My favourite Manitoba Engagement Session Locations
When couples are planning their engagement sessions, one of the most common questions I get is “Where should we go?”. Now there is no right or wrong answer to this, it’s a completely personal preference! My first suggestion is always a place with meaning. Whether it’s where you had your first date or just a spot you two go together often! Distance doesn’t bother me and I’ve gone along to my couple’s family cottages! That’s what Valerio and I did for our engagement session because there is no place dearer to me than the cabin.
However, if you don’t have a place that comes to mind and you’re wanting someplace beautiful, here are my favourite Manitoba Engagement session spots! I’ve included a variety of photos from different sessions to try and show off as much of the scenery of the location as I can. You’ll also be able to see what some places look like in different seasons! Generally, the very green photos are shot in summer, anything very warm, and brown-toned is fall and obviously, the snow is winter!
Birds Hill Park
This may be the place I go to most often and I don’t mind one bit! The park is so big and has so many different areas that it looks like you’ve travelled all over Manitoba by the end of the shoot.
Sandilands
Sandilands is one of my favourite places and it’s quite close to Steinbach where I live. There are so many trails and ponds and trees and it’s so beautiful, especially if you love the outdoors!
Grand Beach
This has got to be my top favourite place to shoot, it’s like stepping into a romance novel when you get to that beach! Grand Beach has some of the most jaw-dropping sunsets and I’ll never get enough! If you love soft, bright and sunny photos, this place is perfect. The sunsets right on the horizon over the water so we’ll get every last drop of the sun!
Matlock Beach
I like to think of Matlock Beach as Grand Beach’s moody sister haha! The sun sets on the opposite side of the beach so once the sun dips below the trees, that golden light is gone. What’s left are some incredibly gorgeous sunsets and soft romantic light! (The first 3 photos where shot at sunrise so it was the opposite! Gorgeous bright sunlight but we had to leave home at 3:30 am to catch the sunrise!)
Old Pinawa Dam
Honestly, I find it hard to believe that Pinawa is even in Manitoba because it is so the opposite of flat like our prairies! There are many different types of spots to explore there which I love because I am obsessed with variety!
The Whiteshell
The Whiteshell area is very close to the Old Pinawa Dam but just not apart of that park. I’ve been to Falcon Lake Trails and some trails near my couples favourite campsite!
Kenora
Now this is technically not in Manitoba but it’s still very much an option! I am out at the cabin quite a lot over summer and sometimes I stay a few extra days to book some shoots in, mileage free! This is one of my favourite spots, it’s one of the places we did some of our own engagement photos. The little private beach is just a 15 minute walk down a beautiful nature trail!
I hope this gives you a good idea on what you love most! You can always chat with me directly for more info if you need. Happy planning!
